West Coast Hot Springs and Lava Fields

Four days

Day 1, Arrival to Iceland

Our guide picks you up at the airport and we head for an overnight stay in the capital Reykjavik with a few hours free leisure time in the old city center depending on arrival time. As an option we can visit the Blue Lagoon on the way to Reykjavík as it is located near the airport. Dinner by choice near hotel in Reykjavík.

Day 2, Hot Springs and Lavafalls

We check out of the Reykjavik hotel and head up the west coast into the Borgarfjörður farmlands.  There we find the “Deildartunguhver” hotspring bubbling up 180 liters per second of boiling hot water. The Reykholt site is the old home of Snorri Sturluson, the most important person from Saga age. We keep on to the beautiful “Hraunfossar” where a hidden river springs from a large lava filed into the glacier water gorge. Options here are the longest lava tunnel of Iceland or the excursion into the Langjökull glacier. Dinner at hotel in the Borgarfjörður region.

Charming farmsteads of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula

Day 3, The Peninsula and Kirkjufell

We head out to Snæfellsnes peninsula visiting highlights such as Arnarstapi fishing port and lava formations, the Lóndrangar, Djúpalónssandur pebble stone beach where the farm workers landed their small fishing boats, the picturesque Kirkjufell and Grundarfjörður fishing town. Above towers the glacier capped cone of the Snæfellsjökull volcano.
